Track: Bristol Motor Speedway
Event: Food City 500
Date: Sunday, March 16, 2014
AJ Allmendinger was on path for his best finish of the season during the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway until an untimely caution pinned him three laps down right after pitting for a routine pit stop. He fought hard to recover as many positions as possible before time ran out and brought home his No. 47 BUSH'S Grillin' Beans Chevrolet in 25th-place. The race was won by Carl Edwards after there were 20 lead changes among 12 drivers and 12 caution flags for 95 laps. Allmendinger is currently 25th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series points standings, 81 markers out of first held by Brad Keselowski.
“It wasn’t the finish we hoped for, but we came away with a top-25 finish at Bristol Motor Speedway with our BUSH'S Grillin' Beans Chevrolet,” co-owner Tad Geschickter said. “We’ll learn from it and go on to Auto Club Speedway. The guys have a pretty long week ahead of them with testing at Martinsville Speedway on Tuesday and Wednesday and they also have to turn the truck around to head out to California. It will be a busy week for everyone and I appreciate all the hard work everyone is putting into this race team.”
“The positive is that we had a fast car again,” crew chief Brian Burns said. “We just had some really bad luck getting stuck right after pitting when the caution came out and caught us laps (three) down. On a positive note, to have the bad luck we did and still pull off a 25th-place finish is probably something we couldn’t have done last year. As a team, we will get stronger. We’ve just got to get rid of the bad luck. We’ll get there.”
“At times the car was fast,” AJ Allmendinger said. “We were able to drive up through the field into the top 15, but I’m not sure why we got so tight. The first time I chewed the tire up and not sure what was going on after that. I really feel like we are getting closer. The guys worked really hard all weekend and Sunday was a long day for everyone. I appreciate all of their efforts. I just need to be better for them.”

FAN OF THE WEEK:
We had another successful competition for #47FanOfTheWeek!
Throughout the season our JTG Daugherty Racing "#47 FAN OF THE WEEK" will have their photo featured on AJ's car.
Each week we post the "#47 FAN OF THE WEEK" theme, with instructions on how you can enter. The best fan photo submitted to us VIA the JTG Daugherty Racing Facebook page will be chosen the following Monday and will be featured on the #47 car the following weekend.
Last week we we challenged race fans to "GO BOLD OR GO HOME" and that we wanted to see them "FAN UP" by sharing a shot of themselves enjoying BUSH’S® Grillin’ Beans® for a chance to be our Fan of the Week—and to have their photo ride with AJ Allmendinger at the race in Bristol this week... We are happy to announce that Matt and Jake Brennick were chosen as our #47FansOfTheWeek and had their photo featured on AJ Allmendinger's car at the big race in Bristol this weekend. We think that is a pretty great present for Jake, who turned five years old on Friday, HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAKE!
Over the weekend we asked for a little help from NASCAR fans, as we were on the lookout for a new "spotter"... Our regular spotter, David Green is normally stationed high above the race track, guiding AJ Allmendinger through the field as he races his way towards the front. Since David was so busy spotting for AJ and having to keep track of the #47 car racing around the track at 200 mph, we thought it would be a good idea to add a second spotter to the team. The person we were looking for had had great vision and foresight, trying to spot our sponsor's logos should be pretty easy since they are such easily recognizable brands that every NASCAR fan probably shops for every week! We think it was the easiest job anyone could ever apply for!
We put together a quick list of the requirements and began taking applications for our new "spotter": https://a.pgtb.me/cn7X50
We are selecting our winner today and we will make the announcement tomorrow afternoon so watch our Twitter and Facebook pages for the results!
