Quotes:
It was a hard-fought night for AJ Allmendinger and the JTG Daugherty Racing team that had to overcome damage to the No. 47 Kroger/SCOTT Products Chevrolet SS from two accidents and a four lap deficit to finish on the lead lap in 20th-place at Richmond International Raceway.
“It was a tough night for everyone and the team never gave up,” Allmendinger said. “We weren’t as good as we needed to be from start to finish, but I thought we went through the right process in practice to get better. However, this place has our number for sure. When they dropped the green flag, we were tight, tight center, loose in and off. I spun out by myself one time and spun out a second time with help. The guys worked really hard to repair the damage to our No. 47 Kroger/SCOTT Products Chevy. We were four laps down at one point and we got lucky and got every one of our laps back to finish on the lead lap. Fought hard, salvaged it.”
“Crazy night at Richmond for a lot of people, including us,” crew chief Randall Burnett said. “We struggled early on with the car. We missed the setup for sure. We couldn’t ever get the balance right for AJ. We battled back from four laps down to get back on the lead lap to get out of here with a top-20 with the night we had going. We were involved in a couple wrecks and our pit crew guys were able to get the car fixed. We’ll take our No. 47 Kroger/SCOTT Products Chevy and head to Chicago (Chicagoland Speedway).”
