TEAM QUOTES:

Saturday night AJ Allmendinger capped off his evening with a 12th-place finish in the No. 47 SCOTT® Products Chevrolet SS at Charlotte Motor Speedway in the Bank of America 500. It was JTG Daugherty Racing’s second top-15 in a row and 11th of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. Allmendinger is currently 13th in the driver points standings with five races remaining.

"We started the race a little bit off," Allmendinger said. "However, I thought we made some good gains on it. We are just missing it a little bit. There were a couple of runs that I thought we were really good. Track position was really critical too. I would get stuck behind a car and I just used my tires up behind them. I really thought we were going to get a top-10 out of the night. We made a two-tire call there. We had a good restart and just fought hard."

“Yeah, we were inside the top-10 and we had to come in there under caution with a handful of laps left because we had went with two tires like I mentioned and the left sides were old,” Allmendinger said. "The car wasn’t handling great, but I figured the time on the pit stop we would save compared to what we would lose on the race track it was going to work out.  But, at that point we had to pit. We lost a couple spots there. I tried to get everything I could on the restart.”

"We are making gains," said Allmendinger. "I'm happy with it and we stayed on the lead-lap all day. We have to qualify better going into these races. We can't qualify back there because it makes the race too hard to get to the front.  We really fought hard and we can see we are making gains. We have to keep working. I think there are little things that we are missing instead of big things, but the good thing is that we are getting better."

"AJ ran in and around the top-10 and we came home with a solid 12th-place finish," crew chief Brian Burns said. "It was a pretty good night for us because we have struggled at these type of tracks in the past. We are working hard to get better at these mile-and-a-half tracks. For AJ to stay on the lead lap and come close to finishing in the top-10 is a really good night for us. He beat some really good cars."
