Harris Teeter returns for Charlotte race:  "Our hometown store, Harris Teeter, is on the hood of our No. 47 car this weekend along with Stouffer's and their Fit Kitchen brand," Allmendinger said. "We're continuing to promote Harris Teeter's Express Lane Online Shopping service, which is pretty cool and super easy. It's basically set up to where you can order groceries online and just swing by their parcel pickup where they can load up your groceries. It can’t get any easier than that for someone that’s always on the go like me. You can visit and click on Harris Teeter Express Lane Online Shopping tab to learn more.”

Bumps and seams: “Charlotte Motor Speedway's surface has become rougher over the last couple of years," Allmendinger said. "It appears the track has changed a great deal. It’s got a lot more seams and overall it has a lot more bumps in the racetrack. It uses the tires up more than it usually has. More than anything, it’s made it tough to make sure you get your car over the bumps and across the seams okay. It’s trickier because of that. It’s one of the most temperature sensitive tracks that we go to on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series circuit. That hasn’t changed. The biggest thing is the seams and also racing at night when we practice during the day because the track changes so much from day to night. It’s always a challenge in general.”

Fast track: “Going into Charlotte Motor Speedway, we have a good baseline for sure,” Allmendinger said. “We will have a brand new race car and that’s why I’m excited about going there. The track in theory should be completely different. If it gets cooler the track gets a lot quicker."

Reflecting on last outing: "When we were at Charlotte in May, we didn’t have the fastest car, but we had a pretty consistent car and we ran top 15 most of the day," Allmendinger said. "I think going back there we can be even better. We definitely have somewhere solid that we can start from and have a car that’s well-balanced Saturday night.”
Multiple grooves: “Like AJ said, Charlotte is a really tough track,” crew chief Randall Burnett said. “It’s really, really fast. You slide around a bunch. There’s a lot of moving around. There are multiple grooves. We’ve got some new things coming that have us excited about going there. We’ve worked really hard on our Charlotte car. We want to get there and see what we’ve got for everybody.”
Improvements: “When we raced in the Open (Sprint Showdown) before the Coca-Cola 600 in May, it was really challenging, but we came back the next week and worked really hard for the 600," Burnett said. "We started the race and it was a bit of a struggle, but we got the car tuned up. We are looking to improve quite a bit this weekend."

Heavy hearts going into Charlotte: "We lost one of our own this week," Allmendinger said. "Chip Warren, who was a longtime JTG Daugherty Racing marketing executive team member and a NASCAR Official for many years before that and a dear friend to many. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. He will be sorely missed by us and the racing community."

"Chip was someone we really liked and respected when he was a NASCAR official," JTG Daugherty Racing team owner Tad Geschickter said. "Then when he became a JTG Daugherty Racing employee, he became a dearly trusted and loyal friend. There is no replacing someone like Chip. We know he will continue to cheer us on from Heaven and we will miss him dearly."
