AJ Allmendinger finished 13th in the 58th Annual Coke Zero 400 Powered by Coca-Cola Saturday night with his No. 47 Kroger/Drumstick/Outshine Chevrolet at Daytona International Speedway.

“I kind of just road around the first 80 laps like we planned,” Allmendinger said. “We were fortunate. We were kind of in the right place when that big wreck happened to not really feel like I was in any trouble. Then from there it was just trying to pick the right lane. I could never, I’m just not really good here. I didn’t really pick the right lane. On that restart, I thought we split the middle and I thought maybe we were going to get a good run. I don’t  know, but whoever was in front of me kind of moved up and caught my nose and the No. 11 (Denny Hamlin) was on the tail of me and I hit the wall pretty hard. Looking at it, it was really hard. So, that last restart I tried to get as much as I could. I got bogged on the restart and split the middle at the end and got whatever we could.”

“All in all, it was a great night for the No. 47 Kroger/Drumstick/Outshine Chevrolet SS,” crew chief Randall Burnett said. “AJ did a great job and kept us out of trouble all night long. He missed that really big wreck and that was just huge for us. We were able to go on offense after that and tried to get up in there and get what we could. We got shoved up into the wall there in the end and got some right-side damage, but we still got a 13th-place finish out of it. I’m really proud of these guys and really proud of AJ getting out of here with minimal damage and it was a good points night.”
