Bobby Labonte capped off his last race in the No. 47 Wounded Warrior Project Toyota Camry fielded by JTG Daugherty Racing at Phoenix International Raceway with a 22nd-place finish Sunday afternoon in the Advocare 500 that was won by Kevin Harvick.

There were 23 lead changes among 13 drivers and eight caution flags for 49 laps. With one race remaining in the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season, Jimmie Johnson leads Matt Kenseth by 28 points heading into Homestead-Miami Speedway this weekend.

“Thanks to everybody for everything,” Labonte said. “Sunday was a day where track position meant a lot. We had it for a while. We had to pit and got a lap down on that green flag stop. We fought hard and battled back there at the end to finish where we did.”

“We were a little short on what our goal was for Phoenix, but we turned it around near the end,” crew chief Brian Burns said. “We were close to a top 20 finish. We just ran out of laps. The car was good and the driver did a great job. We did not get that last caution we needed there at the end to capitalize and get a solid top-20 finish out of it.”

“It was an interesting race with a lot of different pit strategies,” co-owner Tad Geschickter said. “I think Bobby drove a heck of a race. I am glad we were able to give him a solid car. He drove hard to get up to 22nd there at the end.

“He has meant the world to this company,” Geschickter added. “No one else could have helped us through this transition like he did. We have a lot of appreciation for everything he has done for us. We are glad we were able to give him a solid car on his last day in the No. 47.”
