Bobby Labonte had a multitude of challenges during the 200-lap Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan International Speedway that resulted in a 35th-place finish with his No. 47 Kingsford Toyota. Separate incidents that included a damaged grill, a piece of aluminum stuck to the front end, a vibration and his car snapping loose causing the car to slide through the grass, slowed his momentum for a respectable finish Sunday. After Labonte's ride spun around, the team worked hard to replace a broken sway bar and get the car in line enough for Labonte to steer his way to the finish Sunday afternoon.

"The car was okay at the start of the race and we had a good balance," Bobby Labonte said. "It was not too bad. On one of our stops, we were tight on that set of tires. We ended up a lap down, but got it back when a caution came out (lap 71). After that stop, we felt like we lost some speed. We might have had a loose wheel. We decided to stay out. The vibration did not go away.

"We made our way to 19th, but the front-end would not turn the center and we lost some momentum," Labonte continued. "We were running in the top 25 and all of the sudden the car snapped loose. I was in the gas as long as I could be and it just stepped out. We had some significant damage - that included a broken sway bar - that kept us on pit road for a while."

"We had a top-20 finish in sight and the Kingsford Toyota Camry just snapped loose on Bobby," co-owner JTG Daugherty Racing Tad Geschickter said. "It is unfortunate that happened. We will turn our focus to Bristol Motor Speedway and look for better results."

This weeks Tailgater of the Week was awarded to Jimmy Brownlee from Saginaw, Michigan who was camping with his wife Cindy along with 35 other people. It was evident they had a large group occupying spot numbers 2-H-10 through 14 at Michigan International Speedway.

What caught our eye at Brownlee's campsite was Art Chasnis standing over a gigantic grill full of Kingsford Charcoal along with a friend standing nearby decked in Bobby Labonte gear as we were looking for JTG Daugherty Racing brands.

"We've been coming here since 1997," Jimmmy Brownlee said.

"I'm a Kasey Kahne fan, but we have got some Bobby Labonte fans in the group," Cindy Brownlee said. "Coming here started with my aunt and two boys and grew from there. We have nine sites with about 35 to 40 people here that are family and friends."

They pretty much thought of everything for their tailgating setup even music with Bill Stein at the helm.

"I play everything from 40's on up," Stein said. "We have live music and Karaoke."
