AJ Allmendinger and his No. 47 Kroger ClickList Chevrolet SS team finished 20th at Kentucky Speedway Saturday night. Allmendinger ran in the top 10 early on, but as the sun set the challenge was finding a good balance and in the end trying to rally from a broken spring inside the rear tire changer’s pit gun socket during a green flag stop with around 57 laps remaining.
“I thought our No. 47 Kroger ClickList Chevy was actually more competitive when the sun was out,” Allmendinger said. “The track was a little slicker and I felt like we had a better balance there.
"Once the nighttime hit, we could never find a balance," Allmendinger continued. "I felt like I lost speed compared to the other cars. Then we also had a problem. I think the pit gun broke on a pit stop. It’s just the way it’s going right now. The guys fought hard and that’s all you can really do. It was a big weekend for us and we had a lot of Kroger folks at the track. We were just wanting to put on a really good show for them. We're thankful for their support.”
