AJ Allmendinger’s No. 47 Dillons ClickList Chevrolet SS ran out of real estate and sustained heavy damage connecting with another car that had hit the wall and was off the pace with 74 laps remaining. The JTG Daugherty Racing team went to work on the body damage pitting the car several times for repairs rounding out the evening with an unfortunate 30th-place finish.
“It's unfortunate for us and a tough couple weeks," Allmendinger said. "He (Paul Menard) hit the wall off of Turn 4 and kind of stayed in the line. I thought he was going to go low to get out of the way of the field. He stayed up there (at the top of the track) and I didn’t expect him to stop that quick.
"I don’t know if he was just being cautious, because he hit the wall, to make sure nothing was wrong or what happened there," continued Allmendinger. "I thought he was going to go low and he just stopped and I made contact with him.”
