RACE: Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500
DATE/TIME: Sunday, February 28th, 1 PM ET
AJ ALLMENDINGER QUOTES:
A front end issue hindered AJ Allmendinger’s performance as he fought steering the No. 47 Kroger/SCOTT Products Chevrolet across the finish line in 27th-place at Atlanta Motor Speedway Sunday afternoon.
“We started the race out pretty solid and I don’t know what happened, but something broke (maybe in the front end) because we got bad really quick,” Allmendinger said. “I’m not sure exactly, but the Kroger/SCOTT Products Chevy was pretty good at the start. You just had to manage your tires. I thought we were doing a really good job of managing our race early on to be better at the end. We were making a lot of progress. I thought we had an easy top-15 car. We had a pit road problem that put us two laps behind and then something went wrong with the car. We just have to get to the bottom of what happened. They were making the right adjustments. We were going back and forth some, but we had it in a good box. I think we could have had a good finish.”
“The car was pretty good, but something happened," crew chief Randall Burnett said. "We will take the steering box off and see if something failed. We will go through everything in the front end to make sure nothing came loose or was stretched. We will measure all parts and we will get to the bottom of it.”
