AJ Allmendinger closed out the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season with a 20th-place finish with his No. 47 Kroger / SCOTT Products Chevrolet SS at Homestead-Miami Speedway Sunday night. This year, he earned two pole awards, three top-10 finishes and seven top-15 finishes en route to a 22nd-place finish in the driver points standings.
“I want to thank our sponsors for all their support this season and also thank my guys for all their hard work and determination,” Allmendinger said. “I hit the wall in practice on Saturday and the team did a great job repairing the damage to the right side of the car.
“At times we had a top 15 car in the race, but we got a little behind on adjustments and needed to work on the No. 47 Kroger / SCOTT Products Chevy’s landing a little bit better,” Allmendinger continued. “Our front ends have not worked the way we have wanted. Because of that, you try to start to help it with doing some stuff to the rear of the car, but we could never get it neutral. There were times where the car was good and the tires worked, but there were times where it wasn’t as good. It still gives us something to build on moving into 2016."
“I’m proud of everybody’s effort all weekend,” crew chief Brian Burns said. “We had a car that was better than 20th, but with all the crazy stuff going on with pit strategy it put us in 20th. It was a good points night because we picked up a spot from where we were. It will help us for next year also. We feel like we learned some things here at the end of the season. We have made gains at tracks that we felt like we needed to be better at. We are continuing to head in the right direction and look forward to next year.”
