TEAM QUOTES:

AJ Allmendinger and the No. 47 BUSH'S® Beans Chevrolet SS JTG Daugherty Racing team finished 23rd in  the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway Sunday night mainly due to handling challenges they were not able to overcome.

Jimmie Johnson was the winner of race number 12 that had 34 lead changes among nine drivers and eight cautions for 44 laps.

Allmendinger is currently 18th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver points standings, which is led by Jeff Gordon.
“It was a tough night for us and the No. 47 BUSH’S® Beans Chevrolet was just on top of the racetrack,” AJ Allmendinger said. “We couldn’t run, but six or seven laps, and the handling would go away pretty quick."
“It was a handful all night,” Allmendinger said. “Whatever the track did in the second run put us way behind.”
“We finished where we should have finished,” Allmendinger said. “As these guys get better, we have got to get better. It felt like we were overmatched. I did all I could. The track was so slick out there.”
“It felt like you were driving on rocks at times too” Allmendinger said. “I don’t know. It would try to snap loose on me and then it would plow and then it would slide through the middle.”
“The second run of the night, the track changed real quick and we lost a lot of track position,” crew chief Brian Burns said. “We went a lap down at that time. The rest of the night we were not able to get the track position back or get back on the lead lap and that hurt us.”

“We made huge adjustments all night long, but it took big swings to get small changes in balance,” Burns said. “It was tough to keep up with everybody. We will go back and look at our notes and do a better job next time.”

“We made small improvements over Kansas Speedway, but we still have some work to do on our mile-and-a-half program,” Burns said.
