QUOTES:

AJ Allmendinger was running third in the closing laps at Daytona International Speedway and ended his night crossing the finish line in eighth-place with his No. 47 Kroger ClickList Chevrolet SS. It was Allmendinger's 50th-career top-10 finish.

“We set a plan and said we weren’t going to race until 40 to go,” Allmendinger said. “It worked out. It’s crazy back there and you are just kind of hanging on. I thought the Kroger ClickList Chevy had some good speed in it and it handled really well. That’s been one of our strengths here and it was again. Thanks to all the guys for doing such a great job. It’s our backup car. You know I kind of crushed the roof of our primary car at Talladega Superspeedway. They got it ready and it had decent speed in it. I don’t know. You wish you could redo it (the end of the race). I thought I was doing everything right. That first restart I had a big push on David (Ragan) and thought we were going to get clear. And, that second restart, I couldn’t get to Ty’s (Dillon) bumper as good as I wanted to. I was going to shoot the gap and Ty went high and the No. 38 went low and I got pinned in the middle and then my chance to win was kind of gone there.”
