KANSAS SPEEDWAY POST RACE

Race: Hollywood Casino 400
Date/Time: October 18th / 2:15 PM ET
TV/Radio: NBC / MRN / SIRIUSXM
Start:  27th
Finish: 27th

TEAM QUOTES:
AJ Allmendinger’s No. 47 Dillons/BUSH’S Beans Chevrolet SS smacked the wall and cut down a tire after running through oil on the track when another car was trying to steal his real estate. The incident knocked Allmendinger off the lead lap and relegated him to a 27th-place finish, which does not reflect the effort and strides the team made over the weekend to strengthen their intermediate track program.

“It's tough because we had a good car," Allmendinger said. "He (Trevor Bayne) basically made it to where I had nowhere to go and there was oil in the top of Turns 1 and 2 kind of middle of the racetrack and on. So, I had been running a line where I’d go in high and cut down before it. Finally, he just drove it in there like I wasn’t even there and I had to bail out so I wouldn’t crash with him and then I just hit the oil. The No. 47 Dillons/BUSH’S Beans Chevy smacked the fence. Actually, the next lap the car wasn’t that bad so I thought, ‘Ok, maybe we’ll be alright.’ Then it either popped the tire or busted the valve stem out of it and all heck broke loose from there.

“I will say that the car was better from the first time here,” Allmendinger continued. “We’re making gains on it. Everyone did a good job of making it the best we could make it by the end of the race. We just need a little more work back at the shop to get to the next echelon of cars, but at least it is progress. It stinks because we would have had another solid finish.”

“Our goal was to work on our baseline setup for next year for tracks like this,” crew chief Brian Burns said. “We had a good car today. We felt like we could run in the top 15, but it’s unfortunate what happened with the No. 6 car. AJ got pinched up into the wall, cut a tire down and had to pit under green and we lost laps there. It’s hard to get those back. We still feel like we had a top 15 car.”
