TEAM QUOTES:

A badly corded right rear tire set the stage for AJ Allmendinger and the No. 47 Hungry Jack Chevrolet SS team  that finished in 29th-place during the AAA 400 at Dover International Speedway Sunday afternoon.

“There was one run early on when I got rolling around on the top and the No. 47 Hungry Jack Chevrolet SS was fast up there,” Allmendinger said. “I’ve been up there before, but I know there can be consequences for being up there. I was trying to be as careful as I could be. If I ran anywhere else on the racetrack the car was not as good. I felt the tire go bad and I had to make an unscheduled pit stop (lap 111) for tires. From there, it was a challenge for us to get back onto the lead lap. We would fight really loose and then you would try to tighten it up and it would help the rear grip a touch, but then hurt the front of the car. We were kind of sliding around a lot. There was also an instance where I spun out coming onto pit road from either oil or oil dry there on the bottom.  It was just a tough day for us.”

“I think our car was better here than it was in the spring,” JTG Daugherty Racing team owner Tad Geschickter said. “So, all the hard work everyone did this week along with RCR (Richard Childress Racing) working on massaging the body of our car a little bit was a positive direction. We have even more of that for Charlotte (Motor Speedway). We corded a tire. We got off sequence. Then that was kind of the name of the game. When you start trying to take wave-arounds and they don’t work, sometimes it looks worse than it is. I think we had a top 20 car today, which is better than we had in the spring and we will keep working hard.”
