NEW HAMPSHIRE MOTOR SPEEDWAY POST RACE REPORT

Race: Sylvania 300 Date/Time: Sunday, September 27th / 2 PM ET TV/Radio: NBCSN / PRN / SIRIUSXM Start: 30th Finish: 23rd TEAM QUOTES: AJ Allmendinger brought home a 23rd-place finish after battling a tight-handling No. 47 BUSH’S Chili Beans Chevrolet SS that had a right-rear jack bolt failure during the Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway Sunday afternoon. “We’re using these last set of races to learn as much as we can to apply to next season,” Allmendinger said. “Our front ends are a big challenge for us; just tight with tire chatter and also the car was on top of the track. We started the race loose because I think the other rubber from the other Series (NASCAR Camping World Series). Then it was just plowing tight. Also, it sounds like there was a right rear-jack bolt failure too. We’ll look into that when we get back to the shop and see what happened there.” “We started the race loose, but we were able to tighten the car up and it just got really tight,” crew chief Brian Burns said. “We were never able to really get it freed up enough. It was just extremely tight the whole day. Post-race we found that the threads on the chassis on the right-rear jack bolt failed. So, the No. 47 BUSH’S Chili Beans Chevrolet SS was losing height during the entire race. We were putting right-rear rounds in through the entire race making the right adjustments to fix the car, but we didn’t know we had something failing in that corner. Basically, the female threads on the chassis for the jack bolt failed. RCR (Richard Childress Racing) had a similar issue a couple weeks ago with one of their cars. We will definitely look into that and see what the remedy is. We were putting rounds in the right rear all day to raise the back of the car and post-race we found out the back of the car was about three-quarters of an inch low. We were fighting something we did not realize what it was until after the race.” “We are not in the playoffs so we are really trying to learn some things,” JTG Daugherty Racing co-owner Tad Geschickter said. “AJ drove it to a top-25 finish and did the best he could with the challenges we faced. We will never quit trying. Going into Dover (International Speedway), we are going to lean more heavily on our RCR alliance this week especially on designing aero around the car and see if we can pick up on our speeds we had there earlier this season. ” FAST FACTS: Career Starts: 255 Wins: 1 Top-fives: 7 Top-10s: 38 Pole Awards: 4 First Start: 3/25/2007 Bristol First Pole: 4/10/2010 Phoenix Last Pole: 8/8/15 Watkins Glen Best Start: 1 - 4/10/2010 Phoenix Best Finish: 1 - 8/10/2014 Watkins Glen Driver DOB: 12/16/1981 Hometown: San Jose, Calif.
