TEAM QUOTES:

The No. 47 Kroger/Kingsford Chevrolet SS driver AJ Allmendinger finished 23rd in the Crown Royal Presents the Jeff Kyle 400 at the Brickyard  on Sunday. Allmendinger made an unscheduled pit stop when he thought he had a tire going down at Lap 15 placing him one lap down while he searched for speed and needed grip the majority of the race.
“We got down a lap early on and we fought all race with our No. 47 Kroger/Kingsford Chevy to get back on the lead lap,” Allmendinger said. “We got the Lucky Dog there near the end to finish on the lead lap. Everybody just kept fighting and didn’t give up.
“We still have a lot of work to do,” Allmendinger said. “We just need more speed in general. There was no grip in the car all weekend. We could fight both balances. We could make it tight and we could make it loose. Inside the car, there was some of the stuff I did where I could change the balance in general. However, it just never changed the speed and it was really a challenge when we got behind other cars. We had hoped we would find something in the race. I tried to get all I could there at the end. We have more homework to do. We will turn our focus to Pocono Raceway.”
“AJ thought he had a tire going down and with the way the race played out we had to fight the whole race to get back onto the lead lap,” crew chief Brian Burns said. “Thankfully, we got it there at the end. Maybe if we could have had a caution or two earlier, we could have been able to capitalize even more. AJ did a really good job fighting for the extra positions at the end.”
