“We know we have to finish better and my guys are working hard to make our cars better so we can,” Allmendinger said. “I feel like over the past few weeks we don’t have enough downforce and it chews up the tires. Because we don’t have the downforce, the car is on top of the track. I feel like I’m trying to just hang on to it and keep it from sliding out from underneath me to avoid hitting the wall and other cars around me. Another area we need to work on is our Fridays and qualifying better. When you qualify further back, you are in dirty air and your car does not handle as well as the guys running up front in clean air. It makes passing difficult. Also, we sustained damage to the right front of the No. 47 SCOTT Products Chevrolet SS when the No. 13 car (Casey Mears) was sideways in front of me and I had nowhere to go. It was a tough day overall, but we will learn from it and make improvements. We have gotten a little lost over the last month and need to figure it out. Thanks to our fans for their support. With that being said, we can’t point any fingers as we figure everything out. We all need to get better together and find out what the problems are and what the solutions are. We will continue to work hard and do this as a team and family."
"Thanks to SCOTT Products and all our brands, Clorox, Kroger, Kingsford, House-Autry, Hungry Jack, Better Than Bouillon, Shore Lunch, Charter Spectrum for hanging in here strong with us," Allmendinger continued. "We'll get it figured out. Thanks for your support. It means a lot to us."
“The race at Dover International Speedway was all about how we qualified on Friday and track position was so critical,” JTG Daugherty Racing co-owner Tad Geschickter said. “The car was evil in dirty air and it was pretty competitive in clean air. We just never got any track position all day. We are going have to figure out Fridays so we can qualify better. We were running pretty competitive times. It’s just when you are in dirty air it’s a handful to drive back there.”
