TEAM QUOTES:

“The No. 47 Kingsford Chevrolet SS was pretty good and it was way better than we had been all weekend,” Allmendinger said. “On long runs, I was just  awful in traffic. Once we got back there, I needed long runs to drive up through the field. With (Mike) Klein down, every time we pitted, we would lose spots. You would expect that when your lead man goes down and is all the sudden out with an injury. We all wish him a speedy recovery. I was happy the guys were working so hard. Like I said, the car was decent. It wasn’t fantastic, but it was pretty good. It’s just we need to have a little bit better communication to make each other better on making calls. On a positive note, we are still fifth in the points right now. We will keep digging next week at Auto Club Speedway where we finished in the top-10 last season.”

“Good teams have to make the most out of a bad weekend,” JTG Daugherty Racing team owner Tad Geschickter said. “We blew a motor on Saturday and had to start in the rear of the field, we had the injury on pit road and still salvaged a top-17 finish. To me, that is what makes a good team at the end of a season. I think we still are positioning ourselves nicely. We just need to keep getting better from here. Mike’s injury, although it is severe, it is not as severe as it could have been. So, he is not lost for the season. We just have to work hard this week to make sure we shore that spot up for Fontana  (Calif.) and the next few weeks.”

“For a team like this, you realize how important every single guy on the crew is and when we lose someone to an injury like our jackman, Mike Klein, it really affected us, but the rest of the crew rebounded and fought back hard,” crew chief Brian Burns said. “We wish Klein a speedy recovery.”

“On a positive note, we are all really bummed about a 17th-place finish," Burns said. "We know we had at least a top-10 car today. "It's just once we lost track position it really hurt us. We now turn our focus to Auto Club Speedway this week. It's a track AJ really likes and we finished strong there last season. We hope for stronger results this time around."
