TEAM QUOTES:

An 11th-place finish at Kansas Speedway was a small victory for No. 47 Clorox Chevrolet SS driver AJ Allmendinger and the JTG Daugherty Racing team as they earned their best mile-and-a-half finish of the season.

“This is the best weekend we have had in a long time for sure,” Allmendinger said. “I was happy with the Clorox Chevrolet SS throughout the whole race. We are just lacking a little bit of overall speed. I was going back and forth fighting between tight - mostly tight - and we got a little bit loose one time.  It was a good car, by far the best we have been. I hate that I gave up that spot on the last restart, but overall points-wise it’s good. We beat who we need to beat that is behind us in points.  I thought we learned some stuff and made the car way better.  That is the best mile-and-a-half car I’ve had in over a year. Hopefully, we learned for Charlotte.”

“This is one of the tracks we really struggled at earlier this year,” crew chief Brian Burns said. “So, for us to come back to Kansas a second time and almost walk out of here with a top-10 finish is a good day for us. These are the type of tracks that we worry about and struggle at. We made some really big gains. I’m proud of AJ. He really drove hard there at the end with a car that had some damage and kept it ahead of some guys that were pretty good.”

“We used our resources from Childress (Richard Childress Racing) and they’ve been trying some different things in the right-rear of the car,” JTG Daugherty Racing co-owner Tad Geschickter said. “We decided now that we are out of the Chase it’s a good time to really work on those things and it paid off. That is the best mile-and-a-half car we have had in quite some time. An 11th-place finish is good.”
