NO. 37 VELVEETA CHEVROLET SS
TALLADEGA SUPERSPEEDWAY POST-RACE REPORT
Date/Time: Sunday, May 7th at 2:00 p.m. ET
TV Network/Radio: FOX / MRN Radio / SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90
It was a test of patience for Chris Buescher and the No. 37 Velveeta Chevrolet SS team at Talladega Superspeedway. Buescher's strategy to avoid the inevitable "Big One" at the 2.66-mile track worked, as he was able to drive away unscathed from the wreck on Lap 168. With just 20 laps left, Buescher was able to power his way to a 15th-place finish, his second-best finish of the 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season.
CHRIS BUESCHER QUOTES:
"Overall, I'd say it was a solid day in our No. 37 Velveeta Chevrolet," Buescher said. "We got a little bit of damage to the rear bumper and decklid after getting hit on a restart about halfway through the race, so that required a couple of trips to pit road to fix. From there, our strategy was to hang back and hopefully avoid 'The Big One' that got us at Daytona (International Speedway), and we were able to do that. It's our second-best finish of the season, so we can't be upset about that, but we always want more. We'll head to Kansas Speedway this weekend for the first night race of the season, and I'm looking forward to that. Our intermediate program at JTG Daugherty Racing is something we've really been working on, and have seen some progress at the last couple of 1.5-mile races. We're always chasing that checkered flag."
