Known by the nickname, “Utah”, the Woods Cross, UT native grew up watching his Uncle racing Indy cars and always had a passion for motorsports. Following high school, Filler moved from Utah to North Carolina with the goal of entering the racing world as a driver. However in 2007, he found himself at Hendrick Motorsports learning how to change tires. For the past nine NASCAR seasons, Filler has been on pit road working for various teams throughout NASCAR three top-tier series and joined JTG Daugherty Racing as the front tire changer for the 2014 season.
Channing notes that his most memorable moment on pit road so far took place in 2013 while pitting for the No. 27 team during the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Following an on-track incident, the No. 27 car’s right rear tire exploded, causing the car to be engulfed in flames and Filler had to pull the driver, Paul Menard, out of the burning car. In the upcoming season, Filler is most excited about building relationships with his new teammates on the No. 47 team, working with them to become a consistently strong pit crew, and hopes to put the team in the position to make the Playoffs at the end of the season.
