Being a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series pit crew member can be a juggling act and so can being a business owner, but JTG Daugherty Racing rear tire carrier Chip Goode has found balance with both careers. After years of being an insurance agent, Goode ventured out and established his own business called Insurance Solutions (www.getinsurancesolutions.com), which is an independent insurance agency, representing multiple insurance companies serving North and South Carolina residents and business owners. His company writes multiline policies, such as, Auto, Home, Life, Health, Business, Renters, Boat, Motorcycle and RV.

Goode is as passionate about owning his company as he is about contributing to the team and to the sport. He’s a familiar face around the garage and has worked for some of the best teams in the business. Like most, his interest in racing started at a young age traveling the East Coast with his father to watch races. His father found his way into the sport and started helping Steve Mill by working on Mark Martin’s car on the weekends. One thing led to another and Goode accepted a position at Roush Racing in 1998 with Chad Little’s team. Over a seven year span at Roush, he also worked on Jeff Burton, Carl Edwards and Kevin Lepage’s teams. He was a rear tire carrier and worked in business services among other things. In 2005, his path led him to Chip Ganassi Racing where he worked with Jamie McMurray, Casey Mears and Juan Pablo Montoya. For nearly a decade at Ganassi, he wore many hats from pit crew coach, rear tire carrier and account management.

Today, Goode enjoys working for a smaller team where he feels he has the chance to make a difference with the team and on pit road. Goode also likes AJ Allmendinger’s driving style and believes as a cohesive unit they will make it into the Chase this season.
